Koshiro Hatori, Japan

Born in Tokyo, Koshiro Hatori studied philosophy at the University of Tokyo and museum studies at George Washington University. He taught himself the art of origami which he now masters. His artworks have been presented in a number of exhibitions in Japan and the USA. Today the origami professor teaches the art of paper folding at the University of Tokyo. He is webdesigner at Hewlett Packard and member of the board of directors of the Japan Origami Academic Society.

 

Birth Of Stars, April 2005

The model was folded out of a sheet of paper to create a polygon. Sheets of torinoko and kozo paper were glued and dyed with pastel paint. The model took its inspiration from the Penrose tile pattern.
