Born in Ohio, USA, Lang studied physics at the California Institute of Technology. An engineer and scientist, he worked for the NASA space center for companies specializing in laser technology. Robert Lang has been creating origami artworks for years. With 400 of his own creations, he is regarded as one of the world’s best folding artists. As a scientist he has discovered unsuspected possibilities in connection with mathematics and origami which he has put to use in the development of an origami computer program. Today Robert Lang advises international high-tech corporations on the application of folding techniques which are also used to manufacture airbags or construct foldable telescope lenses.
